I'm Ready...

Right before Thanksgiving break, I (with the help of many), submitted a grant application to The Friedman Foundation. With both excitement and nervousness... the process is moving forward and I have been chosen to interview with Mr. Friedman next week. Here is just a small part of my application. On Thursday I hope to continue to convey my passion and readiness for this challenge. It would be a great gift to my students and school if they did choose me!

I've been building my path towards a 1 to 1 for twenty years as a classroom teacher.  Actions include:  saying YES to technology, gathering tools, learning from others and taking risks to transform our classroom into a space that includes technology- which enhances our learning experiences.

I'm ready... to take the next step.
I'm ready... to learn alongside my students and guide them.
I'm ready... to elevate the technology.
I'm ready... to reach out to my Personal Learning Network and find the support.
I'm ready... to share my passion.
I'm ready!!!

I believe that technology tools today are just like pencils.  Something that must be used throughout the learning process to gather information, share thinking and create new ideas and understandings.  I have been pushing myself and my students to use technology throughout our learning day for many years.  I was the first classroom teacher at Little to have a Smartboard and document camera in my room all day.  I applied for, and was the only Colorado teacher accepted, to participate in the Discovery Educators Network Summer Institute in July of 2010.  Over the past five years I’ve sought out and attended many technology conferences (DENSI, TIE, ISTE, Co-Learning, CO Edcamp) and love to bring back and try out the many new ideas that I learn.  I’m thrilled to be able to be considered for this opportunity to take my passion for technology to the next level!  

I am surrounded by tremendous support, and for that, I am thankful.
