Reflections... 1st Trimester

This first trimester has flown by... as fast as the speed of light!  I've been blessed with an outstanding student teacher.  She has been like a sponge, soaking up all that goes on in a 3rd grade classroom and creating those special relationships with students that will bring some tears when she leaves in December.

I was thankful for all the questions she asked, that helped me dig deeper into our teaching profession.  We also created a well-oiled teaching team and I wish that could continue.  Having two teachers and twenty students is a dream come true.  During this last week she also has been a huge part of my grant writing team.  I've taken a risk and applied for an iPad grant that could possibly give me the opportunity to have a 1 to 1 classroom in January.  Carissa (student teacher), along with many other fellow staff members and friends helped craft the grant document.  What totally blew me away was the collaboration that took place, through Google Docs.  Twenty questions that were conquered by my wonderful support system.  If we are gifted this opportunity it will continue to prove the power of collaboration.

So... I'm blogging as our Thanksgiving break begins and I'm so thankful for having the opportunity to share my teaching life with a fellow learner and teacher.  She will be successful as she jumps from our third grade 'nest' and flies to her next destination.
