This seems to be a hot topic... so I asked my 3rd graders to write about it during our morning quick write today. This is what one student had to say.
Handwriting vs. Keyboarding
By: Audrey
The difference between handwriting and keyboarding can cause lots of strong feelings and people think about this all the time. I think that there should be a good balance between both. I like that on a keyboard you get spell check and I like that when you handwrite you can change your font, size and color quickly. On a device like and iPad you have to press a button to change to a symbol but when you are handwriting you can change automatically. I like that with a Keyboard you can type fast and not have to worry about writing a letter wrong because the keyboard already takes care of that. After a while of writing your hand starts to hurt but on a keyboard you have the ability to type for a very long time. So there is some ups ad downs about both handwriting and keyboarding so I would have to say you should always have a good balance. The iPad helps me as a writer because I can use spell check and type faster and handwriting also helps me as writer because I can learn from my mistakes and learn how to spell words on my own.

Very nicely stated, Audrey! Thanks for sharing, De. :)
